Courtney Barclay

Guest Teacher

Born and raised in Southern California, Courtney is a choreographer, educator, and creative director. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with two degrees in World Arts and Cultures/Dance as well as in Communication Studies. She brings a rare blend of artistry and intellect to her work, striving to cultivate dancers who move with intention, nuance and authenticity.

Known for choreography that pairs emotional depth with dynamic physicality, Courtney has earned national recognition and opportunities to share her work with dancers and studios across the competitive landscape. In 2025, she was honored to receive the Dance One A.C.E. Award, a milestone reflecting her lifelong dedication to meaningful creation.

As both an artist and a mother, Courtney’s work is deeply informed by the balance between ambition and presence, discipline and tenderness, growth and grace. She is committed to helping dancers draw from the truths and complexities of their own lives, forging honest connections that breathe life into movement so that, rather than simply perform, they are able to truly experience. She hopes her work invites audiences to lose themselves in the honesty of the movement, emerging on the other side, however subtly, moved.
